While many families gathered around their iftar tables during Ramadan, others spent their days and nights in hospital wards, caring for loved ones or receiving treatment. For these families, the holy month brought not only spiritual reflection but also the burden of illness, uncertainty, and financial strain.
In response, the Halymah Ibrahim Babangida (HIB) Foundation conducted a hospital outreach at IBB Specialist Hospital and the General Hospital in Minna, bringing relief, encouragement, and practical support to patients, caregivers, and healthcare workers.
The outreach was designed to support some of the most vulnerable members of society during Ramadan and to remind patients and their families that they were not alone during their difficult journeys.
The Foundation’s team visited patients across various wards, engaging directly with individuals and families, listening to their experiences, offering words of encouragement, and providing practical support where it was needed most.
As part of the intervention, beneficiaries received raw food items, cash support, and water to help ease some of the financial and emotional pressures often associated with prolonged hospital stays. Caregivers, many of whom had spent days and nights attending to their loved ones, also received support and encouragement in recognition of their resilience and sacrifices.
The Foundation equally extended staff welfare support to healthcare workers who continue to serve tirelessly, often under demanding circumstances, to provide care and comfort to patients across the state.
Beyond the items distributed, the outreach created moments of genuine human connection. For many patients and caregivers, the visit served as a reminder that compassion and kindness still exist even during life’s most challenging moments.
