There was a strong sense of hope, gratitude, and quiet excitement as the Halymah Ibrahim Babangida (HIB) Foundation hosted the 2nd Edition of its Legacy Project in Niger State.
From early in the day, beneficiaries and community members gathered, each carrying their own story, but united by a shared moment of opportunity.
For many, this was more than an event. It was a turning point.
The Legacy Project continues to reflect the Foundation’s deeper mission: restoring dignity, empowering individuals, and creating pathways for sustainable livelihoods.
“The Legacy Project is not just about giving support; it is about restoring dignity, creating opportunity, and empowering individuals to build sustainable futures. We are committed to ensuring that no one is left behind.” — Halymah Ibrahim Babangida, Founder, HIB Foundation
As the program unfolded, the atmosphere shifted from anticipation to joy. Names were called, items were handed over, and one after another, lives were being impacted in real time.
At the heart of the event was a large-scale distribution of empowerment tools and support items, carefully selected to meet real needs within the community. These included:
200 freezers
200 generators
100 sewing machines
150 grinding machines
100 wheelchairs
200 walking sticks

For a woman who received a sewing machine, it meant the chance to restart a tailoring business she had once put on hold.
For a young man who received a generator, it meant being able to run his small business without interruption.
For those who received wheelchairs and walking sticks, it meant something even deeper: the freedom to move, to participate, and to live with renewed confidence.
“This support has given me a new beginning. I can finally start something for myself and support my family.” — Beneficiary
Cash support was also provided to selected beneficiaries, enabling them to start or expand small businesses.
Supporting Education at Scale
Education was a major highlight of the day. The Foundation awarded 300 bursaries to students across various institutions, and provided 1,500 JAMB and 1,500 WAEC forms to students preparing for national exams.
“Education changes everything. When you support a student, you are shaping a future.” — Foundation Representative
Across the venue, smiles, conversations, and moments of quiet gratitude told their own stories; stories of resilience, of second chances, and of hope restored.
Event Impact
Through this intervention, the Foundation directly empowered hundreds of individuals and families, supporting mobility, creating income opportunities, and expanding access to education.
Each item distributed represents more than assistance; it represents a step toward independence, stability, and dignity.
A Legacy That Continues
This event stands as a major highlight of the Foundation’s 2026 Legacy Week, which featured a series of partnerships, outreach programs, and community engagements across Niger State.
With each edition, the Legacy Project continues to grow, reaching more communities, transforming more lives, and strengthening its commitment to building self-reliant societies.
“What we are building is a legacy that goes beyond today, one that will continue to impact lives for years to come.” — Afeez Abdulrasak, Director General
