What was originally planned as a post-Ramadan intervention quickly became an urgent humanitarian response when residents of Dutsen Kuran Hausa reached out to the Halymah Ibrahim Babangida (HIB) Foundation over severe water scarcity during the holy month of Ramadan.
With families struggling daily to access clean water for drinking, cooking, and breaking their fast, the situation had become increasingly difficult for members of the community.
Moved by the urgency of the need, the Foundation immediately responded.
Rather than postponing the intervention until after Ramadan as initially planned, the Foundation mobilized resources, visited the community to assess the situation firsthand, and commenced emergency work on a borehole project to provide lasting relief.
Within just two days, the borehole was completed and made accessible to residents.

For many families in Dutsen Kuran Hausa, the intervention came at a critical moment.
Women and children who previously walked long distances searching for water were finally able to access clean water within their community. Families observing the fast no longer had to struggle daily to secure water for cooking, drinking, and iftar preparations.

What may appear to be a simple water project became, for many residents, a source of relief, dignity, and renewed hope during a physically demanding period.
“We are very grateful for this support. Before now, access to clean water in our community was a serious challenge. When the Foundation came to Dutsen Kuran Hausa, it was a great relief for us, especially during Ramadan. This assistance has really made life easier for everyone here.”
— Leader, Dutsen Kura community
Foundation representatives personally supervised the project to ensure timely delivery and proper completion of the intervention.
The borehole project reflects the Foundation’s commitment to responding not only through planned programs, but also through immediate action when communities face urgent needs.
